A golden opportunity. There are grapes that proclaim their exceptional quality: it happens when, nature, the terroir and the sun all harmonize to produce a special year, one in a million. And then you just can’t resist making an attempt at perfection. That was how IlMerlot was born, the pure version of one of Franciacorta’s historic varietals.

The first really special year was 1990. After which we decided to wait for another year worthy of the effort. A harvest that would allow us to vinify Merlot grapes by themselves: the miracle repeated itself in 2001, 2003, 2009, 2011 and 2015.
